Custom Personal Care Products by Skin Type Manufacturer

Stop Saying “For All Skin Types”. Start Designing for Real Skin

Custom personal care by skin type turns one generic SKU into a system. We help brands build oily, dry, sensitive and aging ranges for face, body and scalp, boosting strong reviews, bundles and repeat orders with low MOQ and sampling.

  • Turn one concept into multiple skin-type SKUs.
  • Design full routines for face, body and scalp.
  • Start from 500 pcs with OEM/ODM flexibility.

Why Skin-Type Commerce Beats Single-SKU Launches?

Most “all skin types” launches try to please everyone and end up delighting no one. Skin-type commerce splits one idea into oily, dry, sensitive and aging lines. That’s how brands clean up reviews, grow bundles and build repeat orders instead of one-time experiments.

How to Start? - Choose Your Point

Not every brand starts from the same place. Some already have a hero product, some only have a moodboard, others just know their buyers’ skin types. We turned these realities into three clear collaboration paths so you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Path 1:Copy & Upgrade Market Winners by Skin Type

You have a reference product that sells well in your market. We reverse-engineer it to around 99% similarity, then split the concept into oily, dry, sensitive and aging variants – keeping what works and upgrading where your reviews show gaps.

Key bullets:

  • Reverse-engineer the base formula, then branch by skin type.
  • Ideal for Amazon/Shopify brands and fast followers.

Path 2:Turn “All Skin Types” into a Skin-Type Line

You already sell an “all skin types” product that works reasonably well. We keep the core signature and create oily, dry, sensitive and sometimes men’s or aging variants, so your next launch is an upgrade – not a risky new idea.

Key bullets:

  • Use your existing hero as the master formula.
  • Split into 2–4 skin-type variants under one brand story.

Path 3:Build a New Skin-Type Collection from Scratch

Starting a new line or rebranding? We design a skin-type-driven architecture from day one: which products for oily, dry, sensitive and aging skin, which actives, textures and packaging for each channel – clinic-style, social-media-first or giftable.

Key bullets:

  • Best for dermocosmetic, salon and new premium brands.
  • Comes with a visual and packaging proposal.

Zerun’s Skin-Type Lab System: Four Factories, One Engine

Behind every skin-type range is more than one factory. Zerun links a personal-care plant, a packaging plant, a printing & design plant and a raw-material plant into one Skin-Type Lab System, so formula, packaging and branding move together instead of in separate silos.

Formula Lab – Personal Care Plant

Our personal-care plant is the heart of the Skin-Type Lab System. Here, more than 5,000 face, body and scalp formulas are mapped to oily, dry, sensitive and aging profiles. This is where your brief turns into real textures, active stacks and lab-tested samples.

Packaging Lab – Packaging Plant

In the packaging plant, skin type and channel decide the shape. Oily and acne-prone lines get light, fresh-looking packs; sensitive and dermocosmetic lines get pharmacy-style airless pumps; aging lines gain premium glass and metallic details. One supply chain, many skin-type stories.

Branding Lab – Printing & Design Plant

Our printing and design plant turns “for oily / dry / sensitive / aging skin” into clear front labels and shelf-ready boxes. Here we align claims, icons, layout and finishes, so each skin-type range keeps its own personality while still looking like one brand family.

Raw Material Lab – Ingredient Plant

The raw-material plant secures the engine behind each skin-type claim. From niacinamide, HA and ceramides to anti-dandruff and hair-growth complexes, we source and develop actives that fit oily, dry, sensitive and aging needs—while staying aligned with EU, US and global regulations.

Skin-Type Case Stories from US, EU and APAC

Real projects are rarely “one cream”. Our clients bring men’s kits, dermocosmetic concepts, hair-growth ideas or gift briefs – we turn them into clear oily, dry, sensitive and aging stories, then support formulas, packaging and shipping until products arrive ready to sell.

Case Story:

A US men’s brand came to us with a single “for all skin types” grooming kit. We rebuilt it as a clear oily and dry/normal skin system, upgraded textures and packaging, and made the upsell path much clearer.

  • Region & channel: USA, Amazon + brand webstore, barbershop retail.

  • Skin-type focus: Oily, breakout-prone male skin vs dry/normal, post-shave tightness.

  • Products: Face cleanser, facial scrub, vitamin C serum, moisturizer, eye cream.

  • Client brief: “One men’s kit that works for everyone, with clean ingredients and simple messaging.”

  • What Zerun did:

    • Reworked base formulas into an oil-control version and a hydrating/comfort version.

    • Adjusted fragrance load and texture for barbershop use and bathroom feel.

    • Redesigned kit structure and on-pack wording to highlight skin type instead of just “men’s care”.

  • Result: Cleaner reviews, fewer “too greasy / too drying” comments, higher perceived value per kit and a clear roadmap for future add-ons like SPF and aftershave products.

Case Story:

Several US/EU clients wanted “hair growth” lines that work on very different scalp conditions. We separated oily, dry-itchy and sensitive scalps, then designed matching shampoos and serums with packaging that survives real bathroom use.

  • Region & channel: US/UK/EU, Amazon, independent salons and barbershops.

  • Scalp-type focus:

    • Oily & dandruff-prone

    • Dry, tight & flaky

    • Sensitive, easily irritated scalp

  • Products: Rice-water and botanical shampoos, leave-on scalp serums/sprays, occasional scalp scrubs.

  • Client brief: “One strong hair growth story that we can sell across multiple countries and scalp types.”

  • What Zerun did:

    • Benchmarked client reference products and rebuilt formulas around different scalp problems (sebum control, anti-dandruff, soothing, anti-hair-loss support).

    • Matched packs to usage: pump bottles for showers, narrow-nozzle or spray bottles for precise scalp application.

    • Prepared FBA-friendly packaging and labeling, including variant names by scalp type instead of just “hair growth”.

  • Result: Same “hair growth” hero concept, but with separate scalp-type SKUs for better positioning, clearer reviews and more flexibility for different regions and salon channels.

Case Story:

Corporate gift buyers needed one set that could work for different employees and clients. We built body and hand-care kits with normal and sensitive-skin options inside the same visual system, keeping both budget and brand image in balance.

  • Region & channel: US/EU, corporate gift agencies, direct B2B orders, seasonal promos.

  • Skin-type focus: Normal/combination skin and sensitive/reactive skin in the same gifting ecosystem.

  • Products: Body lotion, hand cream, gentle body wash, sometimes travel-size shampoo/conditioner.

  • Client brief: “Employee and client gifts that feel premium, work for most skin types and stay within a fixed budget.”

  • What Zerun did:

    • Designed two gentle base systems: a universal “daily care” line and a “sensitive-friendly” variant with reduced fragrance and softer surfactants.

    • Chose packaging that looks cohesive in a gift box but clearly labels skin-type suitability.

    • Optimized volumes, materials and printing to hit the client’s budget while leaving room for logo customization and seasonal artwork.

  • Result: One gift platform that covers different skin needs without confusion, fewer complaints from recipients, and a structure that can later evolve into regular retail or e-commerce SKUs.

Skin-Type Customization FAQ

Q: Should I start with one “all skin types” product or multiple skin-type versions?

A: It depends on your risk and data tolerance. If you are very early-stage and budget is tight, you can start from one flexible base and design 2–3 skin-type branches in the lab, then only put 1–2 into first production. If you already have clear personas or existing sales, we usually recommend launching at least oily and dry/sensitive versions together. This gives you cleaner reviews and less pressure on one SKU to please everyone.

A: Yes. This is exactly why we designed Skin-Type Starter Kits. We can split one overall MOQ across 2–3 variants in the same family, or use mini/travel sizes for pilot runs. For example, instead of 1,500 pcs of one “all skin types” cream, you might do 3 × 500 pcs for oily, dry and sensitive versions, or a mixed kit. You still get factory-level economics, but with better learning and less stock risk.

A: That’s common, especially in mass or gift channels. In those cases, we design the line so the naming and packaging guide them gently: “oil-control”, “deep hydration”, “soothing sensitive”, “pro-aging”. For gifts and corporate sets, we often suggest a normal/basic option plus a sensitive option in the same box. You can still benefit from skin-type logic without forcing consumers to become skin-care experts.

A: You do add some complexity, but it’s not a straight “x3 cost”. Actives and bases can often share a backbone, with adjustments for oils, humectants, and fragrance. Packaging can reuse the same bottle or tube with color-coding and label changes. The key is to design the range together from day one, so we can reuse components and negotiate better material pricing. In return, you gain higher AOV, clearer positioning and more room for premium sets.

A: Yes, many fast-moving brands do exactly that. We first reverse-engineer the core product to around 99% similarity where legally allowed and technically feasible. Once you are comfortable with performance, we branch that concept into oily, dry, sensitive and aging versions by adjusting actives, oils and textures. This lets you leverage existing demand while building your own differentiated, skin-type-based architecture over time.

A: We start from your target markets and channels. For EU pharmacy or dermocosmetic lines, we recommend very conservative wording and may suggest patch tests or dermatologist-supervised studies. For platforms like Amazon, we avoid medical-style “treat/cure” language and focus on “helps improve the look of redness” or “supports clearer-looking skin”. Ingredients, documentation and claims have to match—otherwise the best formula can still cause listing or retailer issues.

A: We keep it simple. Ideally you can share:

  • Target regions and sales channels

  • Your buyer personas and main skin types (oily, dry, sensitive, aging, scalp issues)

  • 1–3 reference products or links you like

  • Desired price band and brand positioning

  • Any ingredients you love or must avoid

With this, we can prepare a first Skin-Type Matrix and sampling plan that feels tailored, not generic.

A: Yes. In reality, many of our best projects span categories: for example, acne-prone ranges that include face, body and scalp, or dry/sensitive concepts covering face cream and body lotion. Because we have a personal-care factory, raw-material lab and packaging lines under one group, we can keep your textures, claims and visual language coherent across face, body and scalp while still respecting the technical differences between each format.

A: We usually treat the first project as a pilot: one or two key skin-type ranges with tight SKUs. Once we see real-world feedback and sales—by skin type, by channel—we help you plan the next wave: stronger actives, seasonal extensions, professional formats or gift sets. Because we already know your buyers and your performance data, each new launch becomes less guesswork and more like growing a skin-type ecosystem around your brand.

From Skin-Type Brief to Ready-to-Launch Range

We don’t ask you to write a 20-page R&D document. Instead, we start with a focused Skin-Type Brief: who your buyers are, which skin types matter, which channels you sell in. From there, we design formulas, packaging and claims that can actually launch.

Step 1 — Share Your Skin-Type Brief
  • What we do:

We send you a simple Skin-Type Brief template covering markets, target personas, skin types, key concerns and channels.

  • What you prepare:

Regions (US/EU/AU/Middle East/JP-KR), age ranges, target skin types (oily/dry/sensitive/aging), 1–3 reference products or links, budget range.

  • What we do:

Our lab team maps your brief into a Skin-Type Matrix: which products for oily, dry, sensitive and aging skin across face, body and scalp. We suggest actives, textures and a first-range architecture.

  • What you prepare:

Feedback on must-have vs nice-to-have SKUs, preferred actives (if any), and target price tiers.

  • What we do:

We create Skin-Type Starter Kits: oily, dry, sensitive and/or aging variants, plus texture options where needed. You test them internally, with clients or selected users.

  • What you prepare:

Structured feedback by skin type and channel: which samples feel right, which are too light/too rich/too scented.

  • What we do:

We refine formulas, lock INCI lists and align packaging choices and claims with your target regions and channels. We also discuss stability, safety documents and any required tests.

  • What you prepare:

Final SKUs list, label languages, preferred claim strength and compliance requirements from your retailers or platforms.

  • What we do:

We schedule production with agreed MOQs, coordinate quality checks, packing and export logistics. After launch, we can plan your next skin-type variants or channel-specific versions.

  • What you prepare:

Purchase orders, shipping details (including Amazon FBA if needed) and timelines for future launches.
